Walk for Peace will take place between Gillingham and Rochester, via Chatham. Medway Inter Faith Action (MIFA), organisers of the Walk, are inviting and encouraging local charities, community groups, schools, residents and like-minded people to participate in the event who are seeking peace and unity across all the communities in Medway. The Walk aims to bring together people of different cultures and backgrounds, promote friendship and embrace positive, interfaith and secular relations through a common cause – peace.
The theme of the Walk this year is ‘Walking for Oneness’ to show how, as individuals, we are part of a broad neighbourhood of communities, walking together with a single purpose that encourages friendship.
The event will begin at 10:00 in Gillingham High Street, then walk to Chatham arriving at 11:00, moving to Rochester as 12:30 and ending at 13:00. We are planning to have a prominent speaker at Rochester, as well as music and other attractions.
We are currently finalising some details of the event and would like anyone who would like to actively participate such as stewards, musicians, singers or those who would like to read a prayer or poem relating to the theme to get in touch. We will be regularly updating this site so do keep watching!
